GOB P2.5 Indoor LED Screen Installation: A Kenya Restaurant Case Study

October 21, 2026

CONWIN recently completed the installation and commissioning of a GOB-protected P2.5 indoor LED screen at a restaurant in Kenya. This case note documents the specific display configuration, the environmental conditions that drove the product selection, and the installation outcome.

Project at a Glance

Location: Kenya (restaurant venue)

Product: CONWIN GOB P2.5 indoor LED screen

Pixel pitch: 2.5 mm

Pixel density: 160,000 dots/m²

Refresh rate: 3,840 Hz

Protection: GOB (Glue-on-Board) surface treatment

Primary challenge: Oil fumes, dust, moisture, and frequent surface cleaning in an active dining space

Outcome: Fully commissioned; display in daily operation

Why GOB Protection Was Selected for This Restaurant

Restaurant interiors expose indoor LED displays to conditions that standard SMD modules are not designed to handle over multi-year cycles: cooking oil aerosols, ambient humidity, dust accumulation, and repeated wipe-downs by staff.

The GOB treatment encapsulates the LED modules with a protective resin layer. In comparable P2.5 GOB configurations, this surface treatment achieves IP54-rated protection against dust and moisture, along with IK06-rated resistance to impact. The practical implications for this Kenya restaurant were concrete:

Oil and dust resistance: The sealed surface prevents contaminants from reaching the LED and PCB layers, reducing the risk of pixel failure in a greasy environment.

Cleaning durability: Unlike acrylic-covered modules that scratch and accumulate visible residue, the GOB surface can be wiped without degrading the display face.

Impact tolerance: In a venue with furniture movement, serving traffic, and cleaning equipment, the IK06-rated surface reduces the likelihood of accidental LED damage.

Installation Notes

The installation followed a standard sequence: site survey and wall-mount assessment, cabinet mounting and leveling, module placement, seam alignment, power-on testing, and final brightness/color calibration.

Because the screen was specified at 2.5 mm pixel pitch with a 3,840 Hz refresh rate, on-site calibration focused on uniform color output across the cabinet array and eliminating visible scan lines under the venue’s mixed lighting. The commissioning pass confirmed the display met the client’s requirements for close-viewing clarity and stable operation.

What This Project Demonstrates

1.For restaurant and hospitality buyers evaluating indoor LED, this installation reinforces three selection criteria that matter more than headline specifications:

2.Surface protection is a lifespan decision, not an accessory. In food-service environments, GOB treatment directly affects how often modules require service or replacement.

3.P2.5 remains a practical pitch for close-viewing indoor spaces. At 160,000 dots/m², it balances resolution with a cabinet count and budget that suit mid-sized restaurant walls.

4.Refresh rate affects camera compatibility. A 3,840 Hz display avoids flicker when guests or staff photograph or film the screen for social content—a frequent use case in dining venues.
